Green Mountain College is a private college that educates students in the environmental liberal arts, including environmental and natural sciences, writing, reading, history, and philosophy. Progressive education is a central tenet of Green Mountain College’s curriculum, whereby  students define their own educational goals and work closely with faculty members to achieve them.

The school’s majors include a diverse set of subjects, including adventure education, fine art, natural resources management, resource & hospitality management, sociology/anthropology, sustainable agriculture and food production, sustainable business, and more. Green Mountain College also offers distance master’s degree programs in environmental studies and sustainable business as well as online MBA programs.

Many students also participate in extracurricular activities such as the forestry club, camp club, spirituality club, tribal dance troupe, slow food movement, as well as rugby and ultimate Frisbee clubs.
