College Scholarship Winning Essay, U.S. Students:
In 100 words or less, explain what one characteristic you have that will make you successful in college:
“Some say that I am strange. I prefer to say that I am unconventional. But I guess they are right. Almost everything from my name to the music I listen to (I am a great fan of Mozart) to my overt fondness of physics and mathematics is different from what is expected of the average teenager. But to find new paths, to discover new sights and wonders in our world, you cannot simply take the path other feet have trampled out. You must take your own path.
I am weird. They are right. And I am proud of it."

College Scholarship Winning Essay, International Students:
In 75 words or less, explain why you want to go to college in the United States:
“I yearn for freedom and diversity, and these are the qualities that are abundant in American colleges. There are endless opportunities to participate in hands-on learning, and I have the freedom to pursue interests outside my major, International Relations. Studying in America allows me to work with people of different backgrounds and be exposed to various cultures. This will equip me with a unique, analytical perception and thorough insight of international events and the world.”
- Serene C. from the Philippines
