The University of Southern Maine (USM) is dedicated to providing students with a high-quality, affordable education. The university’s 7,500 undergraduate and 2,300 graduate and law school students study at campuses in Portland, Gorham, or Lewiston, Maine, or attend online. Over the years, the university has built strong alliances with area businesses to give students challenging opportunities in applied research. There are also numerous scholarship opportunities through area employers.

The Portland campus mainly houses academic centers, such as business, economics, history, media studies, and more. The Gorham campus is where most of the universities’ dorms and athletic centers are located, as well as academic areas such as industrial technologies, engineering, art, music, theatre, and more. The Lewiston-Auburn campus is home to the Lewiston-Auburn College, which has become a national leader in interdisciplinary education.

USM students compete in 23 different athletic programs in the NCAA Division III. The university also hosts art shows, concerts, speakers, and other social events.
