University of Maine, Farmington (UMF) offers rigorous academic programs, outstanding faculty, and a breathtaking setting, at an affordable price. Ranked among "America's Best Colleges" 14 years running, UMF is a nationally recognized public liberal arts college. Its 2,000 students seek degrees in the arts, education, and human services as well as specialty programs such as a certificate in the ski industries. The university also offers also MS degrees in Education, with concentrations in Educational Technology, Literature, or Literacy.

The majority of classes are taught by full-time faculty, who are firmly committed to each student's success. The results show in the freshmen retention rate, which exceeds national averages. Students gain personal attention in small classroom settings. The school's career service office works closely with students to help them identify and achieve their aspirations. Most students live on campus or in nearby apartments.  Located in the beautiful foothills of the mountains of western Maine, the campus affords students endless outdoor activities, from skiing and snowboarding to kayaking and rafting. There is also an active community of artists, actors, musicians, and writers on campus, which is often host to performances by world-renowned performers.

UMF competes in NCAA Division III sports, including men's baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, and soccer, and women's basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball. The school also has cheerleading, ice hockey, and ultimate disc clubs. Students have access to a recreation center with multi-purpose courts, a track, and 25-yard swimming pool.
